Malaysian Air, Scientex, Sime, Tenaga: Malaysia Stock Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Malaysia trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the previous close, unless stated otherwise.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBMKLCI) Index rose 0.1 percent to 1,560.79.

Malaysian Airline System Bhd. (MAS) : The national carrier exercised an option to buy 10 additional Boeing Co. 737-800 aircraft, the two companies said in a joint e-mailed statement. The order is valued at more than $800 million at current list prices, it said. Malaysian Airline shares fell 2.1 percent to 1.42 ringgit.

Scientex Bhd. (SCI) : The Malaysian chemicals company’s profit in the third quarter ended April 30 rose 21 percent from a year earlier to 20.4 million ringgit ($6.7 million) as sales climbed, according to a company statement. Scientex fell 0.4 percent to 2.70 ringgit.

Sime Darby Bhd. (SIME) : The Malaysian plantation, property and auto group has set up a company in China to supply process equipment and heat exchangers, the company said in a statement. The stock was unchanged at 9.19 ringgit.

Sozo Global Ltd. (SOZO) : The Chinese food producer appointed financial advisers for a potential secondary listing in Singapore. The group is scrapping an earlier plan for an additional listing in Hong Kong, it said in an exchange filing. Sozo fell 6.5 percent to 65 sen.

YTL Corp. (YTL MK): The construction and utilities group spent 2.41 million ringgit buying back 1.5 million of its own shares, a filing showed. YTL was unchanged at 1.57 ringgit.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd. (TNB) : The Employees Provident Fund, Malaysia’s largest pension fund, disclosed net sales of 5 million shares in Tenaga, the country’s biggest power producer, according to a filing. Tenaga was unchanged at 6.75 ringgit.
