De Beers to Face Strike Action in South Africa as Pay Talks Fail, NUM Says

De Beers, the world’s largest diamond producer, may face strike action in South Africa after talks over wages failed to secure an agreement.

The National Union of Mineworkers is asking for a pay increase of 15 percent while De Beers is offering 5 percent, the labor union said in an e-mailed statement today.
