Thailand Stocks: Khonburi, Quality Houses, Thoresen Thai, Tisco

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 4:30 p.m. close in Bangkok.

The SET Index rose 14.63 points, or 1.4 percent, to 1,027.72, snapping a four-day, 2.1 percent decline.

Khonburi Sugar Pcl (KBS TB), a sugar miller, jumped 5.1 percent to 12.4 baht, the first advance in three days. Thailand’s sugar-cane production in the crop year starting November may increase 5.7 percent to a record of 105.1 million metric tons, the Office of Agricultural Economics, the government’s state agency, said on its website.

Quality Houses Pcl (QH) , a residential property developer, dropped 2.3 percent to 1.71 baht, the lowest close since August 2009. The company had its share-price estimate cut to 2.12 baht from 2.80 baht at Kelive Research, which cited lower sales of the company’s residential properties.

Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl (TTA) , a shipping company, gained 4.4 percent to 19 baht, the most since May 26. The company will pay an interim dividend of 0.5 baht per share, it said in a regulatory filing.

Tisco Financial Group Pcl (TISCO) , a financial company, climbed 2.8 percent to 36.5 baht, the steepest advance since May 19. Tisco was upgraded to “buy” from “hold” at Kelive Research, which cited earnings growth and a higher dividend yield. The brokerage raised its share-price estimate to 43.5 baht from 42 baht.
