The ivory-colored dress worn by film star Marilyn Monroe which blew up as she stood over a subway grating to publicize the 1955 movie “The Seven-Year Itch” fetched $4.6 million when it was auctioned in Beverly Hills, the Daily Telegraph reported.
The dress was part of a collection put together by actress Debbie Reynolds, which included props from Hollywood classics such as “Gone With the Wind,” “My Fair Lady,” “Casablanca,” “Ben-Hur” and “The Sound of Music,” the newspaper said.
Monroe’s dress had been expected to go for about $2 million, the Telegraph added.
