Adviser to Japan’s Kan Urges Nuclear Waste Rethink, WSJ Reports

Japan should review its policies on reprocessing nuclear fuel after delays in construction of facilities and public concern about the safety of nuclear power, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing Goshi Hosono, a top adviser to Prime Minister Naoto Kan.
Hosono, who has served as the prime minister’s point man on nuclear issues, said in an interview yesterday that it’s necessary to restore public confidence in Japan’s nuclear policy, the report said.
