Angolan commercial banks will be able to issue and accept Mastercard Inc. (MA) credit cards by the end of the year, a banking industry official said.
The southern African country planned to increase the use of cards to move away from cash, Eduardo Matos, the business coordinator at Empresa Interbancaria de Servicos, which manages electronic banking systems for lenders in the country. Currently only Visa Inc. cards are used in Angola, he said.
