UN Food Agency Purchases Sugar, Wheat for Algeria, Mauritania

The United Nations’ World Food Programme bought almost $1 million of sugar and wheat for delivery to nations including Algeria.

The UN agency purchased $704,340 of sugar from Suiker Unie’s Limako Suiker BV, according to its website today. The WFP also bought $284,625 of wheat from Ballouhey SA.

The sugar will be sent to seven countries including Algeria and Bangladesh, while the wheat is destined for Mauritania, the agency said. It typically reports tender results with a delay of several weeks.
