Liberia Diplomat Tubman to Challenge Johnson Sirleaf in Presidential Vote

Winston Tubman, a Liberian diplomat with the United Nations, will contest the presidency against incumbent Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in an election planned for October, according to Acarious Gray, his party’s spokesman.

George Weah, Liberia’s former soccer star and a candidate in 2005, will be Tubman’s running mate with the Congress for Democratic Change party, Gray said in a interview in Monrovia, the capital, today.
