Thailand Stocks: PTT Exploration, Thai-German Ceramic, Thoresen

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 4:30 p.m. close in Bangkok.

The SET Index rose 3.54, or 0.3 percent, to 1,073.97.

PTT Exploration & Production Pcl (PTTEP) , Thailand’s only publicly traded oil explorer, dropped 1.4 percent to 178.5 baht, the lowest close since March 16. Crude oil yesterday fell 2.2 percent to $110.05 a barrel in New York, the biggest drop since April 18.

Thai-German Ceramic Industry Pcl (TGCI TB), a producer of ceramic tiles, climbed 3.1 percent to 3.3 baht, the highest close since April 2006. The shares extended yesterday’s 5.3 percent gain after the company said on April 29 first-quarter net income climbed 56 percent to 161.1 million baht ($5.4 million), or 0.16 baht a share.

Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl (TTA) , the nation’s second- biggest bulk shipping company by market value, gained 3.3 percent to 22 baht. The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of commodity shipping costs, yesterday rose 1.8 percent to 1,292 points, the largest increase since March 10, according to the Baltic Exchange in London.
