The Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks all won last night to finish off first-round National Basketball Association playoff series in six games.
Kobe Bryant scored 24 points and Andrew Bynum had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the two-time defending champion Lakers to a 98-80 victory against the Hornets at the New Orleans Arena.
Carl Landry had 19 points for New Orleans. Chris Paul, who had averaged 24 points for the Hornets in the first five games of the series, was held to 10 points.
The Lakers next will face the Mavericks, who won 103-96 to finish up their best-of-seven series against the Portland Trail Blazers. Dirk Nowitzki had 33 points and 11 rebounds to lead Dallas to the victory in Portland.
The Lakers will host the Mavericks in Game 1 on May 2.
Joe Johnson had 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Hawks beat Orlando 84-81 at Philips Arena in Atlanta to wrap up their series four games to two. Dwight Howard had 25 points and 15 rebounds for the Magic.
The Hawks will face the Chicago Bulls, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, in the second round. The Bulls, who beat the Indiana Pacers in five games in the opening round, host Game 1 on May 2 in the series against the Hawks.
The Memphis Grizzlies host the San Antonio Spurs tonight in the only remaining first-round contest. The Grizzles lead the best-of-seven series three games to two.
