RUSSIA DAYBOOK: Putin in Denmark, Medvedev in Chernobyl, Mail.ru

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Russian executives hold talks in Danish officials and business leaders in Copenhagen. President Dmitry Medvedev travels to Chernobyl and Kiev to discuss nuclear power safety. OAO Polyus Gold, Mail.ru Group Ltd. are due to report earnings.

WHAT TO WATCH:

*Putin is scheduled to hold talks with his Danish counterpart Lars Loekke Rasmussen, visit A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S offices and oversee the signing of at least 10 accords in Copenhagen. *Medvedev travels to the town of Chernobyl to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the world’s worst nuclear disaster and meet with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to discuss how to improve the safety of nuclear power plants. *Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visits the disputed Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which are recognized as independent states by Russia. *OAO Lukoil holds a board meeting in Astrakhan on developing Caspian Sea resources.

EQUITY MOVERS: *Polyus is scheduled to report 2010 earnings at about 3 p.m. *Mail.ru is scheduled to report 2010 earnings. *OAO Tatneft (TATN) said today 2010 net income fell 14 percent to 46.7 billion rubles ($1.67 billion), even as sales climbed 23 percent to 468 billion rubles.

MARKETS: *The Micex Index (INDEXCF) declined 1.3 percent to 1,769.94. *The dollar-denominated RTS Index (RTSI$) fell 0.9 percent to 2,030.93. *Russia’s benchmark 2018 ruble Eurobond rose, pushing the yield 29 basis points lower to 6.716 percent when it last traded April 21, the lowest since it was sold in February. *The ruble strengthened 0.6 percent to 27.8510 per dollar and slipped 0.3 percent to 40.6600 per euro as of close on April 25. *The MSCI (MXEF) Emerging Markets Index declined 0.6 percent to 1,196.86 at 9:08 a.m.. *Crude for June delivery fell 0.9 percent to $111.31 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange at 9:11 a.m. *Brent crude fell 0.4 percent to $123.18 at 9:12 a.m. *Gold for immediate delivery fell 0.6 percent to $1,498.25 at 9:10 a.m.
