Chevron Phillips Plans to Start Ethylene Unit at Port Arthur

Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. is preparing to start an ethylene unit at the chemical plant in Port Arthur, Texas, according to a regulatory filing.

The restart of the unit, which was down for maintenance, is expected to begin today and be complete by April 27.

“The start-up time may vary subject to completion of testing of the equipment repaired during the shutdown,” The Woodlands, Texas-based company said today in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The company expected the maintenance to last 504 hours, according to a filing April 8.

Chevron Corp. (CVX) and ConocoPhillips (COP) each own half of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LLC, according to the company’s website.

The Port Arthur plant is 93 miles (150 kilometers) east of Houston.
