The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of 4:02 p.m. New York time.
The Merval Index fell 1.4 percent to 3,401.55.
Grupo Financiero Galicia SA (GGAL) fell the most in two weeks, losing 2.1 percent to 5.59 pesos. Argentina’s largest consumer lender retreated in line with global equity markets, which slumped as the nuclear crisis in Japan intensified.
YPF SA (YPFD) lost 0.5 percent to 194 pesos. The Argentine unit of Spain’s Repsol YPF SA fell after a strike by oil and natural gas workers in the province of Santa Cruz reached its 13th day. Santa Cruz accounts for 20 percent of the country’s oil output.
