The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 3:09 p.m. New York time.
The Ipsa index fell 0.8 percent to 4,741.31, ending a six- day winning streak.
Cia. Sudamericana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC) fell 3.3 percent to 384.21 pesos, ceding part of yesterday’s 13.4 percent gain. Chile’s Luksic family’s Quinenco SA (QUINENC) holding announced yesterday it will seek to share control of Latin America’s largest container shipping company with the Claro family’s Maritima de Inversiones SA (MARINSA) holding. Shareholders will vote tomorrow on a planned $1 billion capital increase.
Quinenco (QUINENC CC) fell 1.1 percent to 1,860 pesos, ending a seven-day winning streak, while Maritima (MARINSA CC) fell 1.4 percent to 70 pesos.
Laboratorios Andromaco SA (ANDROMAC) gained 3.3 percent to 310 pesos, the steepest gain in almost three months. The Chilean pharmaceutical producer agreed to pay $13.1 million for a 70 percent stake in Colombia’s Labinco SA, according to a statement posted today on the website of Chile’s securities regulator.
Parque Arauco SA (PARAUCO) retreated 1 percent to 1,082.7 pesos. Shareholders at the Chilean shopping center developer agreed to sell 100 million new shares to fund the company’s $840 million 2011-2013 investment plan and strengthen its finances.
