Mugabe said that South African President Jacob Zuma, who oversees negotiations between Zimbabwe’s political parties, could not prescribe what Mugabe should do, the Herald, which is controlled by Mugabe’s party, said on its website. Mugabe said he would not accept interference from the Southern African Development Community or the African Union, the Herald reported.
Zuma is overseeing negotiations between Mugabe’s Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front and the Movement for Democratic Change, led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. The two parties have shared power since February 2009 after a violence-marred election failed to gain recognition.
