Chilean Stocks: Madeco, Inversiones Pampa Calichera, Quinenco

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4:10 p.m. New York time.

The Ipsa index fell 0.8 percent to 4,557.90. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index slid 1.2 percent to 2,615.62.

Madeco SA (MADECO) climbed 4.6 percent to 28.01 pesos. The Chilean copper-products company controlled by the Luksic family has gained 8.8 percent in the two days since announcing an agreement to increase its stake in France’s Nexans SA to 20 percent from 9 percent.

Quinenco SA (QUINENC) gained 1.2 percent to 1,660 pesos. The Luksic’s holding company was reiterated “buy” at Larrain Vial SA after it agreed to buy a 10 percent stake in shipping company Cia. Sudamericana de Vapores SA for $120 million.

Soc. de Inversiones Pampa Calichera SA (CALICH CC), the biggest shareholder in fertilizer producer Soc. Quimica y Minera de Chile SA, fell 1.2 percent to 800 pesos. A package of 163 million shares was auctioned today at 726 pesos each, for a total $246 million, according to a statement posted on the website of the Santiago stock exchange.
