Portugal Prime Minister Socrates Resigns After Vote Against Deficit Plan

Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates said he presented his resignation after parliament rejected the government’s deficit-cutting stability and growth program.

Socrates spoke in Lisbon today.
