Yale Is Named No. 1 Seed in NCAA Hockey Tournament; North Dakota Is Second

Yale University was named the overall top seed in college hockey’s national tournament.

Yale will open its bid to win the National Collegiate Athletic Association title for the first time against No. 16 Air Force Academy on March 25 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The Yale Bulldogs (27-6-1) beat Cornell 6-0 March 19 to win the ECAC Hockey tournament championship. The Bulldogs, the nation’s top-scoring team, have won four straight games and are making their third consecutive visit to the NCAA tournament.

No. 2 North Dakota will begin tournament play against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on March 26, third-ranked Boston College, the defending champion, plays Colorado College March 25 and No. 4 Miami of Ohio faces New Hampshire, also on March 26.

The single-elimination tournament finishes with the national championship on April 9 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
