Moelis Hires Former Skadden Buyout Lawyer Saggese as Adviser

Moelis & Co., the four-year-old investment bank founded by Kenneth Moelis, hired Nick Saggese, a former lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP who focused on private-equity deals and restructurings.

Saggese, 63, will be a senior adviser in Los Angeles, counseling Moelis bankers and their clients, the New York-based company said in a statement today. Saggese worked at Skadden for 25 years and retired as co-head of the firm’s private-equity group.

Saggese advised Paul Allen’s Vulcan Capital on the sale of Dreamworks SKG to Viacom Inc. in 2006, and Leonard Green & Partners LP and TPG Capital on their acquisition of Petco Animal Supplies Inc. that year. He co-wrote a leading handbook on corporate restructurings, Moelis said.

Moelis, founded in 2007, has more than 470 employees in 7 offices around the world.
