Anadolu Sigorta, Aygaz, Bank Asya: Turkey Equity Market Preview

Anadolu Anonim Turk Sigorta Sirketi (ANSGR TI): Turkey’s largest non-life insurer said unconsolidated profit fell to 37.5 million liras last year from 48.2 million liras in 2009, according to a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange after the market closed yesterday. Net income exceeded an average estimate of 25.9 million liras in a Bloomberg survey of nine analysts. The insurer plans to distribute 10 million liras of dividends from 2010 profit, it said in a separate statement yesterday. Anadolu Sigorta (ANSGR) gained 3 kurus, of 2.7 percent, to 1.14 liras.
Asya Katilim Bankasi AS (ASYAB) : Qatar Islamic Bank wants to buy a 25 percent stake in Bank Asya, Haberturk newspaper reported today, without saying where it got the information. Bank Asya was raised to “neutral” from “underperform” at FinansInvest with a 12-month price estimate of 3.20 liras, according to an emailed report today. Bank Asya surged 24 kurus, or 9.2 percent, to 2.86 liras.
Aygaz AS (AYGAZ) : The Turkish distributor of liquefied propane gas said profit last year fell to 239.5 million liras from 314.6 million liras in 2009, according to a filing with the bourse after the market closed yesterday. Net income missed an average estimate of 250.8 million liras in a Bloomberg survey of 13 analysts. The company plans to distribute 125 million liras of dividends, it said yesterday. Aygaz was unchanged at 8.60 liras.
Turkiye Vakiflar Bankasi TAO (VAKBN) : The Turkish state- owned bank will apply to regulators to sell 1.5 billion liras of bonds in the domestic market and $500 million to $1 billion of eurobonds with at least five-year maturity, it said in statements to the bourse after the market closed yesterday. Vakifbank gained 12 kurus, or 3.2 percent, to 3.86 liras.
