British American, Genting, MMC, NCB: Malaysia Equity Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Malaysia trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the previous close, unless stated otherwise.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index fell 0.8 percent to 1,513.63.

British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd. (ROTH MK): Malaysia’s biggest cigarette maker said fourth-quarter net income rose 5.7 percent from a year earlier to 182.7 million ringgit ($60 million) as gains from asset sales countered a drop in volumes, according to a company statement. The stock slid 0.4 percent to 46.32 ringgit.

Genting Bhd. (GENT MK): The casino group’s Singapore unit, Genting Singapore Plc, the world’s third-biggest casino company by market value, posted a fourth-quarter loss of S$150.3 million as high rollers got lucky and financing costs increased. Genting fell 1.7 percent to 10.40 ringgit.

Favelle Favco Bhd. (FFB MK): The crane maker said it fourth-quarter profit fell to 10.1 million ringgit from 11.2 million ringgit a year earlier as sales declined. The stock lost 5.3 percent to 1.08 ringgit.

Globetronics Technology Bhd. (GTB MK): The semiconductor assembler said fourth-quarter net income climbed 36 percent from a year earlier to 8.2 million ringgit as sales rose. The stock slid 0.9 percent to 1.11 ringgit.

MMC Corp. (MMC MK): The ports, power and construction group said fourth-quarter profit fell 3.7 percent from a year earlier to 104.6 million ringgit because of higher operating expenses and finance costs. MMC slid 1.8 percent to 2.81 ringgit.

Petronas Gas Bhd. (PTG MK): The natural gas distributor said third-quarter net income jumped 50.4 percent from a year earlier to 400.7 million ringgit as sales increased, the company said in an exchange filing. The shares dropped 0.7 percent to 11.22 ringgit.

NCB Holdings Bhd. (NCB MK): The Malaysian port operator said fourth-quarter profit fell 45 percent from a year earlier to 20.8 million ringgit. The company proposed a special dividend of 20 sen a share, adding to its final dividend of 10 sen, it said in a statement. NCB gained 0.3 percent to 3.87 ringgit.

RHB Capital Bhd. (RHBC MK): The banking group said fourth- quarter net income rose 13 percent from a year earlier to 380.1 million ringgit as revenue gained, the company said in a filing. The stock dropped 0.4 percent to 8.17 ringgit.

Selangor Dredging Bhd. (SDR MK): The property developer said profit in the third quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 82 percent from a year earlier to 5.6 million ringgit as sales surged, according to a company statement. The stock fell 4.3 percent to 77.5 sen.

SHL Consolidated Bhd. (SHLC MK): The Malaysian property developer said third-quarter net income rose 13 percent from a year earlier to 6.02 million ringgit, according to a company statement. SHL fell 0.7 percent to 1.40 ringgit.
