The following is a list of companies whose shares may have unusual price changes in South Africa. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names and prices are from the last close.
South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index rose for the first day in five, adding 292.64, or 0.9 percent, to 32,806.67 at the 5 p.m. close in Johannesburg.
African Bank Investments Ltd. (ABL SJ): The bank yesterday announced it will sell 15 million preference shares to selected investors. The stock gained 40 cents, or 1.1 percent, to 36.79 rand.
Bowler Metcalf Ltd. (BCF SJ): The plastics manufacturer sees half-year earnings per share up 26 percent to 38 percent. Bowler gained 5 cents, or 0.57 percent, to 8.75 rand.
Clientele Ltd. (CLI SJ): The insurer said six-month headline earnings per share were 26.69 cents versus 23.76 cents. Its shares remained unchanged at 9.90 rand.
Discovery Holdings Ltd. (DSY SJ): The health insurer announces first-half results. Discovery gained 22 cents, or 0.6 percent, to 39.78 rand.
Kagiso Media Ltd. (KGM SJ): The publishing company said interim headline earnings per share were higher at 98.8 cents per share. Kagiso advanced 15 cents, or 0.9 percent, to 16.40 rand.
Shoprite Holdings Ltd. (SHP SJ): The retailer publishes first-half earnings. Shoprite jumped 1.94 rand, or 2.1 percent, to 96.50 rand.
Truworths International Ltd. (TRU SJ): South Africa’s largest clothing retailer briefs investors on its first-half earnings. Truworths climbed 1.29 rand, or 2 percent, to 66.79 rand.

Anglo American Plc (AAUKY US) slipped 1.9 percent to $25.96. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU US) gained 0.5 percent to $47.55. BHP Billiton Plc (BBL US) dropped 2.9 percent to $77.34. DRDGold Ltd. (DROOY US) rose 0.4 percent to $4.62. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) jumped 2.8 percent to $17.29. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) added 1.8 percent to $11.24. Impala Platinum Holdings (IMPUY US) gained 1.5 percent to $30.19. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) fell 0.6 percent to $5.37. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) added 0.4 percent to $51.24.
