Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell for a third day in four, losing 28.9, or 0.3 percent, to 10,774.7 at the 5:30 p.m. close in Madrid. The Madrid Stock Exchange General Index also dropped 0.3 percent today.
The following were among the most active stocks in the Spanish market. Symbols are in parentheses after company names.
Clinica Baviera SA (CBAV SM) jumped 2.5 percent to 8.20 euros, the highest price since September. The Spanish company was raised to “buy” from “neutral” at UBS AG.
Fluidra SA (FDR SM) climbed for the first day in three, adding 2.9 percent to 2.69 euros. The maker of swimming pools agreed to buy Aquatron Inc., Aqua Products Inc. and assets of Aquatron Robotic Systems Ltd. for an initial $44 million.
Obrascon Huarte Lain SA (OHL SM) advanced for the sixth time in seven days, gaining 1.6 percent to 24.19 euros. The Spanish construction company’s Brazilian unit said Brazil’s state development bank, known as BNDES, approved a loan of 331.3 million reais ($199 million) to the company.
Sacyr Vallehermoso SA (SYV SM) climbed 5.2 percent to 8.10 euros, the stock’s fourth straight gain. The Spanish builder and the group of companies in charge of expanding the Panama Canal finished 10 percent of the construction works, to ensure the project remains on schedule, El Economista reported, citing Antonio Zafaroni, chief executive officer of the group.
Tecnicas Reunidas SA (TRE SM) dropped for a fourth day in five, losing 2.4 percent to 43.30 euros. The Spanish engineering company was cut to “equal weight” from “overweight” at Morgan Stanley.
