Iraq’s Kurdish North to Double Oil Output in 2011, AFP Reports
Oil output from Iraq’s northern Kurdish region is due to double to 200,000 barrels a day by the end of 2011, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said in an interview with Agence France-Presse.
The central government will respect profit-sharing contracts signed by semi-autonomous Kurdistan and foreign oil companies, Maliki confirmed, according to AFP.
Kurdistan resumed exports Feb. 3 after a halt of more than a year following a dispute over oil revenue with the central government, which also criticized the province for signing profit-sharing deals instead of service contracts.
