Pentagon Seeks Final Bids on Aerial Refueling Tanker by Feb 11.

The Pentagon is seeking final bids on Feb. 11 in the contest to supply the Air Force with aerial tankers, according to Boeing Co. and European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co., which are competing against one another.

Boeing is making final adjustments to its bid before submitting its so-called Final Proposal Revision on Feb. 11, spokesman Bill Barksdale wrote in a blog yesterday on the company’s website.

Boeing and EADS, which has headquarters in Paris and Munich, are vying for a contract of about $35 billion to replace 179 of the Pentagon’s fleet of more than 500 KC-135 tankers. The U.S. military depends on in-flight refueling to extend the range of combat and transport planes.

EADS North America spokesman Guy Hicks said EADS received Final Proposal Revision instructions with a due date of Feb 11.
