Japan to Fund $50 Million Hydroelectric Plant in Angola, Macauhub Says

Japan will fund the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Cutato River in Angola’s Bie province, Macauhub reported today, citing Yoko Matsuzaki from the Japan International Cooperation Association.

A total of $50 million will be spent to build the dam, install two turbines and a 50 kilometer (31-mile) transmission line, the online news service said. The plant will generate 30 megawatts of electricity to power 30,000 homes, it said.
