Morocco Chosen to Host 2015 Africa Cup of Nations; South Africa in 2017

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of Africa Football said South Africa has been chosen to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

“After deliberations and presentations by the two bidding countries, it was decided that Morocco will host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and South Africa, the 2017 edition,” CAF, as it’s known, said in an statement posted on its website today after the organization met in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2010, South Africa hosted the FIFA World Cup, attracting 309,000 visitors to the country during the tournament, with fans spending 3.6 billion rand ($501.3 million) on hotels, food and clothing, according to the nation’s Tourism Ministry.
