Taiwan’s Taiex Index rose 64.20, or 0.7 percent, to 9,055.59.
Nanya Technology Corp. (2408 TT) surged 5.4 percent to NT$17.45, the most since Sept. 6. Powerchip Technology Corp. (5346 TT) gained 3.4 percent to NT$6.70 and Inotera Memories Inc. (3474 TT) increased 3.9 percent to NT$18.45. The memory chip makers rose on expectations prices for dynamic random-access memory chips will bottom in the first quarter, according to a sales note by Goldman Sachs Group Inc.
CyberTan Technology Inc. (3062 TT) advanced 4.4 percent to NT$40.40, the most since Nov. 19. The broadband network equipment maker decided to pay NT$980 million to buy 49 million E-Ton Solar Tech Co. (3452 TT) shares at NT$20 each, Hsinchu, Taiwan-based CyberTan said in an exchange statement yesterday.
E-Ton Solar Tech rose 3.8 percent to NT$50.70. E-Ton aims to raise as much as NT$6 billion selling a maximum 300 million shares in the private placement, the Taiwanese solar cell maker said in another statement to the stock exchange yesterday.
DelSolar Co. (3599 TT) increased 4.8 percent to NT$66, the highest since Sept. 24, after saying in an exchange statement it agreed to buy NT$3.1 billion of silicon wafers from a supplier it didn’t identify.
