PPL Shuts Susquehanna 1 Reactor Due to Steam Leak
The unit was in “hot shutdown” mode, Sheehan said in an e-mail. Hot shutdown is when parts of the reactor remain heated and pressurized so it can return to service more quickly.
The 1,149-megawatt unit was shut shortly after 6 a.m. local time, Joe Scopelliti, a plant spokesman, said in a telephone interview. He declined to give a timeline for when the unit will return to service.
Susquehanna Unit 2, another reactor at the site, is operating normally and at full power, Scopelliti said.
