Adhi Karya, Matahari, United Tractors: Indonesia Equity Preview
Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Indonesian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are as of the last close.
The Jakarta Composite index fell 2.2 percent to 3,379.54.
Coal producers: Power-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, dropped 4 percent to $130.77 a metric ton in the week ended Jan. 21, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index. PT Bumi Resources (BUMI IJ), Asia’s largest exporter of power-station coal, slipped 1.6 percent to 3,000 rupiah. PT Adaro Energy (ADRO IJ), Indonesia’s second- biggest coal producer, declined 4.1 percent to 2,350 rupiah.
PT Adhi Karya (ADHI IJ): The state construction company canceled a plan to raise 600 billion rupiah ($66 million) selling new shares in a rights offer this year and will seek funding through other means such as a bank loan or bonds, Bisnis Indonesia reported, citing Corporate Secretary Kurnadi Gularso. Adhi Karya fell 3.6 percent to 810 rupiah.
PT Astra International (ASII IJ): Indonesia’s largest automotive retailer, through its unit PT United Tractors, plans to join a group of investors to bid for the construction of two power plants on Sumatra island valued at as much as $1.17 billion, Kontan reported, citing Astra spokesman Arief Istanto. Astra slid 1.4 percent to 47,150 rupiah.
PT Matahari Putra Prima (MPPA IJ): The Indonesian retailer said net income jumped to 5.8 trillion rupiah in 2010 from 300 billion rupiah a year earlier. Matahari posted an extraordinary gain of 5.7 trillion rupiah last year, it said. The stock rose 6.1 percent to 1,740 rupiah.
PT Timah (TINS IJ): Tin for three-month delivery jumped 2.9 percent to $27,745 a metric ton in London on Jan. 21, settling at a record high. Timah, Indonesia’s largest tin producer, fell 2.9 percent to 2,500 rupiah.
PT United Tractors (UNTR IJ): Indonesia’s biggest heavy equipment seller said sales in December fell to 313 units from 420 units in November, and compared with 278 units a year earlier. United Tractors declined 4.9 percent to 20,450 rupiah.
