Roger Federer Goes Five Sets to Defeat Simon at Australian Open Round Two

Second-ranked Roger Federer needed five sets to get past Gilles Simon of France in the second round of the Australian Open.

The Swiss player won 6-2, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3 to maintain his record of always reaching the third round in Melbourne. Federer, the defending champion, is trying to be the second man to win 5 Australian Opens, after Roy Emerson, who took six of the titles.
