Indian Equities: Bajaj Finserv, HCL Technologies, Petronet LNG

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Indian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 9:55 a.m. local time.

India’s Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensitive Index, or Sensex, fell 36.73, or 0.2 percent, to 19,055.32.

Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (BJFIN IN), Allianz SE’s insurance partner in India, surged 3.8 percent to 450.15 rupees, poised for its highest close since Jan. 6, after saying its third- quarter profit more than doubled.

HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCLT IN) climbed 4 percent to 508.05 rupees, on course for its best close since March 2000. The software services provider said its net profit in the quarter ended Dec. 31 increased 12 percent from a year earlier.

HT Media Ltd. (HTML IN) advanced 2.4 percent to 148.5 rupees. The owner of nation’s Hindustan Times newspaper posted a 34 percent increase in third-quarter profit.

ING Vysya Bank Ltd. (VYSB IN), a Bangalore-based lender, lost 3.3 percent to 331 rupees after reporting third-quarter earnings.

Petronet LNG Ltd. (PLNG IN) surged 3.4 percent to 134.35 rupees, on course for a record close. India’s largest liquefied natural gas importer’s third-quarter profit doubled from a year earlier to 1.71 billion rupees ($37.7 million), according to a statement on the Bombay Stock Exchange yesterday.

Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL IN) rose 2.8 percent to 166.45 rupees. The nation’s second-biggest producer of steel was raised to “neutral” from “underperform” by Rakesh Arora, an analyst at Macquarie Research.
