Ahsan Ali Syed, who dropped plans to buy English soccer team Blackburn Rovers last year, is in talks to acquire Spain’s Racing Santander, El Pais newspaper reported, citing regional government officials.
Syed, an Indian who founded Bahrain-based Western Gulf Advisory AG, plans to invest about 50 million euros ($67.3 million) in Racing, which owes 22 million euros in loans and other debts, the newspaper said. Venky’s, an Indian operator of poultry farms, acquired Blackburn in October.
