Dynegy Cuts Some Power Output at South Bay Natural-Gas Units

Dynegy Inc., a Houston-based power producer, curbed output at generating units in Southern California.

The company’s 146-megawatt South Bay Unit 1 and 149.6- megawatt Unit 2 were completely idled as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report. The curtailments were planned.

The generators are part of a natural gas-fired plant with a total capacity of 706 megawatts south of San Diego in the city of Chula Vista.

One megawatt can power about 800 typical U.S. homes.
