Peru Stocks: Alturas, Candente, Cerro Verde, Rio Alto Mining

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of 4:11 p.m. New York time.

The Lima General Index gained 0.7 percent to 22,959.71. The MSCI All Peru Capped Index fell 0.2 percent to 3,238.31.

Copper producers gained after the metal rose to a record in New York.

Alturas Minerals Corp. (ALT PE), a Canadian copper and gold exploration company, surged 13 percent to 27 cents, a two-year high. Candente Copper Corp. (DNT PE), a Canadian exploration company, rose 3.4 percent to $1.81, a three-year high. Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1 PE), a unit of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., gained 3 percent to $52.

Gold miners rose after futures gained for a second session in New York.

Rio Alto Mining Ltd. (RIO PE), a Canadian gold exploration company, jumped 7 percent to a record $2.30. Minera IRL Ltd. (MIRL PE), a U.K. minerals explorer with a gold mine in Peru, rose 1.6 percent to $1.30.
