Mecom’s Search for a Chief Executive Suffers Setback, FT Says

Mike Anderson, a former managing director at Rupert Murdoch’s News International, ruled himself out as a possible chief executive officer at Mecom Group Plc, a U.K.-based company that owns newspapers in Europe, the Financial Times reported.

Anderson was considered a leading candidate to replace David Montgomery, who steps down as Mecom’s CEO at the end of next month, the newspaper said.

John Fry, the CEO at Johnston Press Plc, a regional newspaper publisher, has been approached in connection with the job, but has had no talks with Mecom, the FT said, citing two unidentified people with knowledge of the matter.

Anderson and Fry declined to comment, the newspaper said.
