Isabel dos Santos, an Angolan investor, next year will request permission from the Bank of Portugal to be able to increase her holding in Portuguese lender Banco BPI SA to more than 10 percent, Jornal de Negocios reported, without saying how it obtained the information.
The investor plans to make the request so that her holding company Santoro has room to continue increasing its stake in BPI, the Portuguese newspaper said. Dos Santos has not set an objective in terms of the size of the BPI holding that she wants to reach, according to Negocios.
In the past month, dos Santos has increased the BPI stake to 9.99 percent from 9.7 percent, Negocios reported.
