Lebanon to Triple Internet Speed With New Intercontinental Cable

Lebanon’s Internet connection speed will soon triple after a fiber optic cable running from France to India went into commercial use this month, Commerce du Levant magazine reported, citing Telecommunications Minister Charbel Nahhas.

The 13,000-kilometer (8,000-mile) India Middle East Western Europe cable was developed by a group that included France Telecom SA, Bharti Airtel Ltd., Saudi Telecom Co, Pakistan Telecommunication Co., Emirates Telecommunications Corp., Telecom Egypt, Telecom Italia Sparkle SpA, Tata Communications Ltd, and Lebanon’s Ogero.
