Spectra Reports Natural Gas Leak From 20-Inch Pipeline
Spectra Energy Corp. detected a “small” leak in an offshore 20-inch natural-gas pipeline, Wendy Olson, a company spokeswoman. The line is 80 miles (130 kilometers) from Cameron Parish, Louisiana, she said.
“We’re just waiting for some equipment and repairs are getting under way,” Olson said in a telephone interview today. The Houston-based company said a dive boat was on site and water depth was more than 150 feet (46 meters).
The leak site was about 15 feet by 15 feet and there was no sheen on the water, according to Olson. There has been no impact to service or customers at this time, she said.
The conduit is part of Spectra’s offshore Cameron System, according to Olson.
