AES Boosts Output From Huntington Beach Unit 1 in California

AES Corp., an Arlington, Virginia- based power producer, boosted production at a natural gas-fired unit at a Southern California plant.

The company’s 225.8-megawatt Huntington Beach Generating Station Unit 1 was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time yesterday, the California Independent System Operator said in a report. The unit had 85.8 megawatts offline at the same time Dec. 17.

The 225.8-megawatt Unit 2 at the plant had 115.8 megawatts idled at 3:15 p.m. local time yesterday, after being completely idled today in an unplanned shutdown on Dec. 17.

The generating plant has a total capacity of 904 megawatts, according to the website of AES. One megawatt can power 800 typical U.S. homes.
