Colombian Stocks: BMC Bolsa Mercantil, ETB Rise; Ecopetrol Falls

The IGBC Index declined 1.2 percent to 15,353.98, while the Colcap Index decreased 1.2 percent to 1,823.61.
BMC Bolsa Mercantil de Colombia SA (BMC CB), a Bogota-based marketer of agricultural products and services, rose 1 percent to 2,045 pesos, the biggest gain since Oct. 25. Rain in recent months has flooded more than 600,000 hectares of agriculture land in Colombia, El Espectador reported yesterday, citing Agriculture Minister Juan Camilo Restrepo.
Ecopetrol SA (ECOPETL CB) fell 2.2 percent to 4,100 pesos, the biggest decline since Nov. 29. Colombia’s government may use the proceeds from a stake sale in Ecopetrol to help repair infrastructure following flooding and landslides, Finance Minister Juan Carlos Echeverry told broadcaster RCN.
Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota SA (ETB CB) increased 1.5 percent to 670 pesos, the biggest increase since Dec. 2. The state-run telecommunications provider serving Colombia’s capital rose the most in almost two weeks after the board of directors said the company should be sold.
