Calpine’s Metcalf Center Restores Some Power in California

Calpine Corp., a U.S. power producer, restored some power service at a Northern California electricity generator.

The company’s 593.2-megawatt Metcalf Energy Center had 50.2 megawatts, or 8.5 percent of capacity, idled as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The unit was operating at full rates at the same time yesterday. The natural gas-fired plant is in San Jose, California. One megawatt can power 800 typical U.S. homes.
