The AEX-Index added 1.1, or 0.3 percent, to 351.3 at the 5:30 p.m. close in Amsterdam, climbing for a ninth day, the longest stretch of gains since June. Belgium’s Bel20 Index advanced 0.3 percent to 2,636.87.

ArcelorMittal (MT NA), the world’s largest steelmaker, added 3.1 percent to 27.93 euros, the highest price in seven months. European stocks climbed after China refrained from raising interest rates even as inflation surged.
Belgacom SA (BELG BB) fell 3.2 percent to 25.40 euros, the lowest closing price since June 14. Belgium’s largest telephone company said it will contest preliminary findings of two court- appointed experts that anti-competitive pricing may have cost Mobistar SA and Royal KPN NV as much as 1.84 billion euros ($2.43 billion) in revenue between 1999 and 2004.
VastNed Offices/Industrial NV (VNOI NA) jumped 6 percent to 12.30 euros, the highest level in more than a month. Rival property investor Nieuwe Steen Investments NV (NISTI NA) proposed a share exchange ratio which values VastNed O/I at 13.33 euros a share. Nieuwe Steen fell 3.9 percent to 14.39 euros.
