Russia Box Office Sales Reach Record $1 Billion, Kommersant Says

Russian box office sales reached a record $1 billion in the year to Nov. 28, led by Hollywood 3-D films “Avatar,” “Shrek Forever After” and “Alice in Wonderland,” Kommersant reported, citing Kinobusiness Today magazine, which tracks the industry.

Sales of movie tickets jumped 43 percent from $736 million the previous year, the Moscow-based newspaper said.
