Peru Stocks: Cerro Verde, Southern Copper, Volcan, Atacocha
The following companies are having unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of 12:51 p.m. New York time.
Copper miners advanced after futures rose in New York, said Estefany Castillo, an analyst at Scotiabank Peru.
Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1 PE), a unit of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., rose 3.4 percent to $46.02. Southern Copper Corp. (SCCO PE), Peru’s biggest copper producer, gained for a fifth session, adding 2.9 percent to $46.30. Candente Copper Corp. (DNT PE), a Canadian exploration company, rose 1.4 percent to $1.44 after reporting stronger-than-expected copper and gold ore grades at its Arikepay property.
Zinc miners gained after the metal advanced in London.
Cia. Minera Atacocha SA (ATACOBC1 PE), the Lima-based silver and zinc miner, rose for a sixth session, adding 3.5 percent to 1.49 soles. Soc. Minera El Brocal SAA (BROCALC1 PE), a silver and zinc producer, advanced for an eighth day, adding 2.7 percent to 57 soles, a three-year high. Volcan Cia. Minera SAA (VOLCABC1 PE), Peru’s largest zinc producer, rose 1.2 percent to 3.39 soles.
Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca SA (POMALCC1 PE), a unit of Grupo Oviedo, rose 1.5 percent to 67 centimos after announcing the sugar mill will post a 15 million soles ($5.3 million) profit this year compared with a 13 million soles net loss in 2009.
