Edison Boosts Power at Sunrise Gas Plant in California

Edison International, owner of California’s largest electric utility, boosted power at a natural gas-fired electricity generator in the state.

The company’s 590-megawatt Sunrise Power Project had 115 megawatts, or 19 percent of capacity, curtailed as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The unit had 252 megawatts, or 43 percent of capacity, offline in a planned shutdown at the same time yesterday, a previous report showed.

The plant, north of Los Angeles in Kern County, southern California, is owned by Edison and Chevron Corp. One megawatt can power about 800 typical U.S. homes.
