Dai Says China Doesn’t Want to Replace U.S. as Power, SCMP Says

Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo said China will never replace the U.S. as the world’s dominant power, the South China Morning Post reported, citing an essay by Dai posted on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

China’s strategy is one of focusing on its own development and cooperating peacefully with other nations, the Hong Kong- based English-language newspaper said today, citing the 9,000- word article. China’s military-budget increases are only aimed at defending its territorial integrity, Dai wrote.
