Patrick Barron, first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will retire on Feb. 28 after more than 43 years with the Fed system, the Atlanta-based bank said.
Marie Gooding, Atlanta Fed executive vice president and retail payments product manager, was named to replace Barron, and Cheryl Venable was named to succeed Gooding.
Through its 12 regional reserve banks, the Fed has extensive daily operations in banking, from clearing checks to processing currency. The Atlanta Fed, led by President Dennis Lockhart, represents a district that includes Alabama, Florida and Georgia and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
