South Africa Municipal Payments Rise 72% in 2 Years, News24 Says

South Africans paid 72 percent more for municipal services in the third quarter of this year than two years earlier, News24 reported, citing Mike Schussler, director of Economists.co.za.

The public paid 51.7 billion rand ($7.5 billion) to municipalities in the quarter, the Johannesburg-based Internet news site said. This represented 7.8 percent of quarterly gross domestic product, it said, citing Schussler.
