Repsol Suspends Activities in Southern Argentina Amid Strike
Repsol YPF SA’s Argentine unit suspended activities at oil fields located in the southern part of the country amid a five-day strike.
Operations ceased in parts of Santa Cruz province because of “the violence committed by members of the union during the weekend,” the company said in a statement. The suspension will continue until working “conditions are guaranteed,” it said.
The strike by the union of supervisor-level workers in the provinces of Santa Cruz and Chubut started on Dec 1.
The supervision-level workers of the oil and natural-gas industry are organized in several regional and provincial unions, representing about 13,000 people.
